With more than 30 years of trial and dispute-resolution experience, Michael has represented both plaintiffs and defendants in high-stakes matters ranging from complex commercial disputes to catastrophic personal-injury cases. His practice spans construction, first and third-party insurance claims and coverage, professional malpractice, breach-of-contract and deceptive-trade-practice actions. Michael is licensed in all Texas state and federal courts and has been admitted pro hac vice in other courts nationwide. Michael is a AAA Arbitrator & Mediator serving on the both the construction and commercial panels.
As the founder of Hawash Houston Mediation, Michael now focuses exclusively on alternative dispute resolution. He has served as a neutral in over 600 mediations and is known for helping parties identify clear, equitable, and cost-effective solutions—often through dynamic mediation strategies and the structured protocols of the EDR Institute.
In addition to his mediation practice, Michael teaches alternative dispute resolution advocacy as an adjunct professor at the University of Houston Law Center. He frequently lectures on topics such as risk analysis, ethical problem-solving, and early dispute resolution at legal conferences, bar associations, and law schools across the country.
Outside of his professional life, Michael pursues a deep personal interest in military history and enjoys visiting and studying historical battlefields around the world.
